Deivids Hofmeirs. Stounraiders
Deivida Hofmeira debijas romāns “Stounraiders” ir populāru distopiju kokteilis. Asiņainajās sacīkstēs var redzēt paralēles ar Sūzenas Kolinsas “Bada Spēļu” triloģiju, Debesu Bāzes un Melndūkstes attiecības var saskatīt līdzības ar Pīrsa Brauna “Sarkano sacelšanos”, un motocikli un tuksnešainā ainava patiesi nedaudz atgādina “Mad Max” filmas. Tāds spēcīgu žanra darbu sajaukums nudien var iekārdināt zvērinātu distopiju cienītāju, taču “Stounraiders” tik ļoti cenšas būt kārtējā stilīgā distopija, ka aizmirst, kāda ir žanrs savos pamatos ir sabiedrības kritika.
Kur “Bada Spēles” kritizēja cilvēku apsēstību ar realitātes šoviem, kur “Sarkanajā sacelšanā” ir komentārs par nevienlīdzību, kur “Mad Max” (vismaz “Fury Road”) varēja nolasīt feminisma un ekoloģisma idejas, “Stounraiders” neko citu kā vien stilīgus motociklus nevar piedāvāt.
Kā noprotu, sacīkstes un motocikli ir “Stounraiders” pasaules centrs, taču skaidra atbilde, kāpēc tā, tā arī netiek sniegta. Pirmo grāmatu rakstīt ir grūti. Vēl jo vairāk, ja tai sekos vesela sērija. Jāatbild uz neskaitāmiem jautājumiem, jāizveido pārliecinoši tēli un pasaule, kuru tie apdzīvo, jārada intriga, taču nedrīkst lasītāju atstāt galīgi samulsušu. Diemžēl Deividam Hofmeiram tas nav izdevies.
Tomēr “Stounraiders” ir gana viegli un ātri izlasāma grāmata, kura prasīs vien dažus vakarus. Tāpat kādai mazai māsai (kurš teica, ka meitenēm nepatīk moči) vai brālim gan pa vidu apsēstībai ar motocikliem un aizvien kvēlojošai sajūsmai par “Bada spēlēm” “Stounraiders” varētu būt taisni uz "kārā zoba".

Pēdējā laika diskusijās par imigrantu iebr[a]ukšanu Eiropā laiku pa laikam manījupiesauktu franču rakstnieka, ceļotāja un pētnieka Žana Raspaja 1973.g. romānu “Svēto nometne”. Nekad mūžā neesmu lasījis tik pravietiska darba! Līdz pat “ekspertu” diskusijām plašsaziņas līdzekļos, progresīvās sabiedrības atklātām vēstulēm, Austrālijai un tam, kā imigranti atraida viņiem sniegtu pārtiku un mantas. Atšķirības, protams, ir acīmredzamas — romānā viss notiek pāris mēnešos, dzīvē simtreiz lēnāk; Azija kopš 1973.g. atmetusi daudz kā no sociālisma, tāpēc tur simtiem miljonu cilvēku izrāvušies no nabadzības utt. Taču, ievērojot gaišredzības nepastāvēšanu un laiku, kas pagājis kopš romāna sarakstīšanas, pravietisms ir apbrīnojams.
Lasot romānu pamīšus ar ziņām, uzmācas visai baiga izjūta, ka dzīvojam “Svēto nometnē”. Tomēr nākotne ir atklāta un mūsu rokās. Bet izšķirīgais jautājums tas pats: vai eiropiešu tautām ir gana gribas aizstāvēt sevi pret draudiem un iznīcināšanu — vai arī līberālisms dzīvesgribu iznīcinājis.
